The Ertegun´s New York Cabaret Music (cassete ou CD)

Era uma vez (lá pelo início da década de 50), numa terra distante (Manhattan - NYC) onde viveu um grupo de cantores, pianistas, outros músicos e uma audiência fascinada que lotava dúzias de pequenos clubes noturnos para ouví-los cantar e tocar algumas das melhores canções escritas até então.

Boa parte deles já se foi (a morte não esquece de ninguem mesmo), mas sua música sobrevive nesta belíssima coletânea. São 3 fitas cassete (seis lados de uma hora cada) na versão que usei para converter para CD (Atlantic 81817-4 de 1987). O resultado desta conversão foi gravado em cinco CDs cujo conteúdo listo a seguir:

A versão oficial em CD (Atlantic 81817-2) de 1987 é composta de 6 CDs, 1 para cada lado de fita cassete.
Mas quem foram os Erteguns afinal?
Os irmãos Ahmet e Nesuhi Ertegun chegaram a América do Norte vindos da Turquia e fundaram com o engenheiro produtor Tom Dowd, o produtor Jerry Wexler e outros tais como o escritor Jessie Stone, a Atlantic Records, que se tornaria um império nas décadas de 50 e 60, distribuindo e publicando a alma da Black America, até então tratada como algo menor e largamente ignorada.
Ahmet Ertegun tambem compôs uma série de singles no correr da década de 50.
